The presentation shows the accomplishement of the project so far, and the challenges ahead. Juliette Renaud also attempts to show how external stakeholders can be involved in the project.

eComove The eCoMove project’s core concept is that there is a theoretical minimum energy consumption achievable with the “perfect eco-driver” travelling through “perfectly eco-managed” road network. The presentation gives an overview of the services and applications developed to support drivers and traffic managers get closer to this theoretical minimum.

DRIVE C2X / SimTD DRIVE C2X will lay the foundation for rolling out cooperative systems in Europe by carrying out a comprehensive assessment through Field Operational Tests. Building on the predecessor PRE-DRIVE C2X, the European car industry, suppliers and researchers evaluate 17 different functions for safety, traffic efficiency and driver convenience in seven test sites throughout Europe.

ICT4FEV The Coordination Action ICT4FEV is focussed on the role of ICT and smart systems as an enabling technology for the fully electric vehicle (FEV). It is supporting the Public Private Partnership European Green Cars Initiative by organizing expert workshops, drafting technology roadmaps and making recommendations for policies, regulations, and standards.

PRESERVE The PRESERVE project contributes to the security and privacy of future vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication systems by addressing critical issues like performance, scalability, and deployability of V2X security systems. This presentation gives an overview of the current status of PRESERVE and the next steps to do till mid-2012.

eCoSTAND ECOSTAND is a support action focusing on collaboration between DG INFSO and METI in Japan looking for common methodologies to assess the impact of ITS applications on CO2 emissions and energy efficiency. The presentation focuses on the last progress that has been made in the latest ITS Energy symposium held in Orlando during the ITS World conference.

COSMO Brief presentation of the COSMO project, a 32-month (2010-2013) pilot project co-funded by the European Commission under the Competitiveness & Innovation Programme - ICT Policy Support Programme (CIP - ICT-PSP). The aim of this project is to demonstrate in realistic conditions the benefits of cooperative mobility services in Europe and to quantify their impact on increasing the energy efficiency of transport.

FOTsis FOTsis (European Field Operational Test on Safe, Intelligent and Sustainable Road Operation) is a large scale field testing of the road infrastructure management systems needed for the operation of seven close-to-market cooperative I2V, V2I & I2I technologies (the FOTsis Services), in order to assess in detail both 1) their effectiveness and 2) their potential for a full-scale deployment in European roads. Tests will run in 9 Test-Sites in four Test-Communities (Portugal, Germany, Greece and Spain).

HeERO The HeERO project will prepare carryout and co-ordinate eCall pre-deployment pilots at European level, taking into account the approved standards. The overall project objective is to prepare for the deployment of the necessary infrastructure in Europe with the aim of making the harmonised Pan-European interoperable in-vehicle emergency call service “eCall” a reality. |

3 EC SMART Studies outcomes Three SMART studies commissioned by DG Information Society and Media and carried out this year aimed to provide input to FP8. They examine relevant developments in Cooperative Systems, Automated Driving and New (Internet) Services and their implications. The three studies are: SMART 63: Defining the required infrastructure supporting cooperative systems; SMART 64: Definition of the necessary vehicle and infrastructure systems for Automated Driving; SMART 65: New Services enabled by the connected car. Dr. Malone of TNO presents the main findings of each study and summarize the recommendations made.
